In the darkness…in the fog, all we can do is feel our way through and try to trust that somehow, we will come out on the other side.
Shonda Rhymes did it again. The season finale of Grey’s Anatomy left me in tears; however, it’s the only episode this season worth watching. But this post isn’t about my feelings or reviews of Grey’s Anatomy. The quote above is the last line in season fifteen’s finale. I replayed the last scene over and over because it couldn’t be more true of this life.
No matter what life throws this way. I find comfort and peace knowing I will come out on the other side…a better and stronger person than before.
I’m not here to try and one-up you all, but lets be honest, I’ve been through my share of trials in my short 29 years on this earth. And since I’m being honest, a strong attribute of mine, we all have been through more than we thought we deserved at any point in our lives. So honestly, it’s not about what we have been through that makes us who we are, it’s more about surviving and coming out a better person on the other side that defines us.
I don’t know much, but I do know this…life will be very harsh. It will throw you curve balls that will knock you off your feet and take the breath right out of you for longer than you thought possible. It will be completely unexpected. It will forever change you. At times, it will make you feel like throwing in the towel and giving up. We all have those life-altering, life changing moments. Geez, it may not seem like it now, but life would be so monotonous without those moments. But, please don’t give up…I promise you life is so worth it.
As I think back to all those kick-me-in-the-stomach and knock-the-breath-out-of-me life altering moments, I am thankful because I am a such a better person today than I ever was prior to them.
Life will knock you down, and there will be times when you’ll have absolutely no earthly idea how to handle what’s being thrown at you. Hold tight and trust yourself. Remind yourself you will never be given more than you can handle. Do not let life’s trials and hardships weigh you down or break you. Remember there is no specific guide to the terrible situation in life; we ALL are fighting some kind of battle. Find comfort in knowing you are equipped to handle whatever comes your way. Be tenacious and courageous. I promise you are stronger than you think and will make it through this rough patch. The fog will clear, the sun will shine and I am hopeful, one day, you will look back and realize how much you have grown and find gratitude and solace in your journey.
I am a better person because of life’s unexpected, unplanned obstacles, and I hope one day you will realize you are, too.
